The shipment of cocaine seized in Villeta

21 October 2020It was the interior minister of Paraguay, Euclides Acevedo, who announced the historic seizure of cocaine that took place in the area of the river port of Villeta, 37 kilometers from Asunción.
The weight of the cargo fluctuates between 3 and 3.5 tons, underlining that this is the largest drug seizure ever in the country.
According to the authorities, the drug was hidden in a shipment of charcoal destined for Israel.

"An unprecedented historical seizure that I hope will end up completely eradicating drug trafficking (...). By working harmoniously in the fight against drug trafficking we can achieve the desired results, and the important thing is not the kidnapping, but the prevention ", said the minister quoted by the daily La Nación.
According to the senior official: "the Paraguay-Buenos Aires-Antwerp (Belgium) -Israel link was the route that was to be used for the transfer of drugs, even though the final destination was not Israel, but from there it would go to other locations. ".
At the moment, a person has been arrested as part of the operation: it is Cristian Turrini, head of the coal load and director of the country's public TV in the years 2012 and 2013.
