According to information from Marsactu confirmed by the prosecution, the criminal investigation into the death of Mehdi, an 18-year-old young man killed in February by the police in the northern districts of Marseille, was dismissed for self-defense on the 1st. last October.

On the evening of February 14, after a robbery in a store near the city center, three suspected criminals fled by car and were pursued by police.

The fugitives had stopped their vehicle in the city of Marronniers, located north of Marseille.

A police officer then opened fire "on several occasions after having been himself and then one of his colleagues put in play by one of the criminals", then indicated the Marseille prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille, Dominique Laurens, had then specified that the young man fatally injured was the one who would have put the police in play.

The death of the 18-year-old had aroused emotion among the inhabitants of the district, several hundred of whom had demonstrated a few days later to demand “Justice for Mehdi”.
