The head of the rescue department, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid bin Sandal, stated that there are people who do not care about the warnings, and seek to enjoy the rainy weather, without taking into account the risks that they may face.

He stressed that some see this type of behavior as an exciting adventure, despite the warnings issued by the Sharjah Police through its platforms on social media, the awareness messages that it continues to spread during periods of rain, and its constant call to avoid mountain valleys and to stay away from places of water flow. , Pointing out that "these practices were behind a number of fatal accidents in which children and families were killed, as a result of recklessness and failure to follow instructions in an unstable atmosphere."

He emphasized that a specialized team was assigned to conduct a comprehensive study on the dangers of valleys in the winter season, in preparation for developing solutions to the challenges facing rescue teams, and preventing negative practices for those who visit these areas.

He added that some young men are putting their lives and the lives of others at risk, for a fleeting moment that may turn into a sad occasion, adding that rescue teams have made great efforts over the past years, as a result of drowning accidents during the rainy season, after the flow of mountain valleys.

He said that the most prominent cause of accidents is the neglect of traffic instructions, and many people think that their vehicles are able to resist water and runoff, in addition to the desire to show off near the flowing valleys.

He stated that most of the people who were washed away were far from the areas where it fell, but they were surprised by its attack on them, which caused their vehicles to be swept away.

He pointed out that the enthusiasts of swimming in rainwater are exposed to severe injuries and drowning cases, after they are surprised by the fall of stones and pebbles on them, and some of them are stuck in tree branches, hindering its movement and causing injury or drowning.
