On Wednesday, on Europe 1, former Prime Minister Manuel Valls insisted on the importance of stronger actions in the fight against Islamism.

And warns: "If it is necessary to change the Constitution, we must not hesitate," he said.

INTERVIEW

Five days after the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine attack, and while Emmanuel Macron promised more "acts" against Islamism, does the government really have the tools to fight Islamism more effectively radical ?

Invited Wednesday from Europe 1, the former Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who evokes "a deep war", welcomes in any case the "very strong will of the executive".

And believes that if it is necessary to change the Constitution to equip itself with more effective tools, "we must not hesitate".

Calling to "eradicate Islamism", the former Prime Minister recalls that this fight "will be long".

But Manuel Valls notes "an awakening of consciousness and a very strong will on the part of the executive that we must support".

"Go further"

"If it is necessary to change the Constitution and the law to be more effective, we must not hesitate," insists the unsuccessful candidate for mayor of Barcelona.

The main thing is, according to him, "to demonstrate by facts, and not by speeches, this desire to eradicate Islamism everywhere".

In this fight, can the bill against "separatism" prepared by the government be effective?

"We can see that for the prohibition of a certain number of associations, the expulsion of a certain number of people, it is perhaps necessary, always in the respect of fundamental freedoms, to go further. And this text can be the support of new proposals ", answers Manuel Valls.
