The storm of Atlantic origin
Barbara
will hit
32 Spanish provinces
this Tuesday
with a
storm of wind and rain
.
It will bring very strong gusts of 110 km / h and even hurricanes of more than 120 km / h in some areas, as well as intense rainfall in the western peninsula, especially the Central System.
Only the Mediterranean area, the interior of the eastern peninsula, areas of the North Plateau and a large part of Galicia will be spared.
This is the second deep storm of the autumn and will hit mainly the northwestern half of the peninsula.
The most adverse day will be this Tuesday, although its effects will continue on Wednesday.
It is "an important Atlantic storm", according to Rubén del Campo, spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), and its effects will continue
at least until Thursday
.
Its origin is in an extensive area of low pressure located to the west of Portugal.
Barbara enters today through the west of
Andalusia
and
Extremadura
, and will move as the day progresses towards the
Pyrenees
.
In its wake it will leave very intense winds first in Spain and Portugal, and then in France and the United Kingdom.
"A lot of caution because the gusts will exceed 70 or 80 km / h in large areas, and even 100 km / h in high points. It is not ruled out that the gusts are hurricanes, that is, that they exceed 120 km / h", has apostilled Del Campo.
Winds
The most extensive phenomenon of Barbara is the wind, which has forced the Aemet to activate this Tuesday notices in 32 provinces spread over 14 autonomous communities, all except the Balearic Islands, Valencian Community and Murcia.
Thus, the storm will also affect the Canary Islands.
The most intense streaks will occur especially from this afternoon.
With the
orange warning
(important risk for outdoor activities) there are four fundamental areas for gusts of wind from 90 to 110 km / h, depending on the zones.
One of them is the
Central System of Ávila
,
Salamanca
and
Segovia
.
Another includes the
Iberian System of Burgos
,
La Rioja
and
Soria
.
The third refers to the Canary Islands of
La Palma
(summits) and
Tenerife
(north).
And the fourth, the most extensive, covers a strip to the north of the peninsula, with
Burgos
,
León
and
Palencia
(Cantabrian Mountains);
Álava
(Nervión and Llanada basin),
Cantabria
(center, Liébana and Villaverde valley),
Guipúzcoa
and
Vizcaya
(interior),
Huesca
(Pyrenees),
Lleida
(Pyrenees and Arán valley) and
Navarra
(the entire province except the river bank of the Ebro).
The wind will blow from the south, with strong or very strong gusts in large areas of the north and west of the peninsula.
They will be over 80 km / h in western Andalusia, Extremadura, north and west of Castilla-La Mancha, the surroundings of the Sierra de Madrid and the west of Castilla y León.
RAIN
Another outstanding phenomenon on Tuesday will be the rains, which will appear throughout the peninsula except in the eastern regions of Andalusia, the Canary Islands and Castilla-La Mancha;
Valencian Community and Murcia will also get rid of the rains.
Where it will rain the most will be in
western Andalusia, Castilla y León, and Extremadura
, especially in the Central System (south of Ávila and Salamanca, and north of Cáceres).
"The highlight of Tuesday, without a doubt, will be the persistence of those precipitations. It will be raining
intensely
for a good part of the day," said Del Campo.
In western Andalusia, Extremadura, the western half of Castilla y León, points in the west and north of the Community of Madrid, southern Galicia and areas of Asturias probably accumulate more than 40 l / m2, with more than 60 l / m2 in the western Castilla y León and southern Galicia, and more than 100 l / m2 in southern Castilla y León, northern Extremadura and northwest Castilla-La Mancha, that is, the Central System environment.
It will also rain in the rest of the Community of Madrid, the west and north of Castilla-La Mancha, the east of Castilla y León, Navarra, La Rioja, the Basque Country and the surroundings of the Pyrenees.
The front will also affect the Canary Islands, with rains in the western islands, while the Mediterranean peninsula and the Balearic Islands will remain on the sidelines.
TEMPERATURES
On the other hand, temperatures will drop in the northwest half of the peninsula, especially in the interior of Castilla y León and western Extremadura, where the thermal drop will be notable.
Instead, they will go up in Cádiz, the Andalusian coast, Murcia, Alicante, the Balearic Islands, eastern Castilla-La Mancha and the eastern Canary Islands.
The hottest capitals will be Córdoba (31ºC);
Granada, Jaén and Seville (30), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (29).
Instead, there will be a softer atmosphere in León (15), Ávila (16) and Huesca, Salamanca, Valladolid, Vitoria and Zamora (17).
