"It is quite obvious that such news stories have nothing to do with reality and are aimed only at warming up Russophobic sentiments in American society, at launching a" witch hunt "and spy mania," RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the department.

The embassy noted that this behavior "has been a distinctive feature of Washington's political life for several years."

“The US authorities are consistently destroying the once pragmatic Russian-American relations and artificially imposing on their population a toxic perception of Russia and everything connected with it,” the diplomat said.

According to him, Russia has no intention of engaging in "destabilizing operations around the world."

“This does not meet our foreign policy, national interests, as well as our understanding of how relations between states are built,” the diplomat added.

The embassy indicated that Russia respects the sovereignty of other states and does not interfere in their affairs.

Earlier, the US Department of Justice accused six Russian citizens of involvement in a series of hacker attacks and the distribution of malware to attack the infrastructure of other countries to "advance Russia's interests."
