The blackout which affected operations on the Paris Stock Exchange and several other European markets for several hours on Monday "is not a cyber-attack," their operator Euronext assured Tuesday.

"This is not a cyber attack," a spokesperson for the group told AFP.

"This was a technical problem - now resolved - at the middleware level, one of the systems ensuring data persistence," he said.

A three-hour blackout led to the suspension of the session on the Paris Stock Exchange on Monday, as well as on other places managed by Euronext, such as those in Brussels, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Dublin.

In a statement on Tuesday, the pan-European operator also "apologized" for the disturbances the day before, assuring that "actions have been taken to ensure that similar problems do not occur again."

If the quotation of Euronext indices, like that of the flagship CAC 40 index in Paris, finally resumed from 12:45 p.m., the market for "warrants", financial products that can be converted into shares, has not restarted. of the day.

A new problem had disrupted the close of markets, forcing Euronext to cancel all trades occurring after 5.30 p.m.

"The markets have recovered well today," confirmed the spokesperson.

The session on the Paris Bourse in particular took place without incident throughout the morning.
