Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Tuesday October 20 that he wanted to create a new offense of “

endangering the publication of personal data

 ” on the internet.

We can no longer bring ourselves to passively witness the unleashing of hatred on social networks,

" he said during the questioning session to the government.

The Minister in charge of Citizenship Marlène Schiappa for her part announced that the government was reactivating "

the permanent contact group

" set up in 2015 with the main social networks for "

a mobilization and a joint response of the State and platforms against cyber-Islamism

 ”.

This contact group was created by Bernard Cazeneuve, then Minister of the Interior, as part of the fight against Daesh propaganda.

I want social networks to take their responsibility

" to eliminate hateful content, she hammered on RTL on Tuesday, before receiving the French representatives of Facebook, Google / YouTube, Twitter, Tiktok and Snapchat.

The teachers of the college of Bois d'Aulne,

colleagues of Samuel Paty,

also noted the role of social networks in a statement published Tuesday.

They do not directly blame the networks in the death of their colleague, but rather blame them for the creation of a deleterious general atmosphere in schools.

“

We express our deep concern about the impact of social networks.

The speed with which information is disseminated to the greatest number, and its irreversible aspect, are a real scourge in the exercise of our profession,

 ”they declare.
