Newspaper: Johnson wants to quit because of his low salary

The British "Metro" newspaper quoted sources as saying that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in private sessions that he could not live on his salary, which he believed was low, which is worth 150 thousand and 402 pounds sterling annually.

The sources added that Johnson had complained to his colleagues that he could not live on his current annual salary, because he was earning more before taking office in July of last year.

Shortly before assuming the post of British Prime Minister, Johnson received 23,000 pounds a month for his column in the "Telegraph", in addition to what he received for giving speeches and participating in events. According to the newspaper, he reportedly paid 160,000 pounds for just two speeches during one month.

The sources added that the British Prime Minister wants to wait another six months before handing over his resignation, so that he can end Britain's exit from the European Union and overcome his country from the emerging Corona virus crisis.

A source, a member of the British Parliament, said Johnson was concerned about raising his six children and sending his youngest son, Wilfred, to Eton College, which cost 42,500 pounds a year.

He continued, "Boris has at least six children, some of whom are small enough to need financial assistance."

The newspaper reported that former British Prime Minister Theresa May had been paid more than one million pounds for lecturing since she left her post last year.

David Cameron gets 120,000 pounds per speech, according to the newspaper.
