Already today, nine security guards are employed part-time by the municipality to create security and keep order in specific places around Kalmar urban area, including at several shopping centers and the county hospital.
Now the municipality wants three more part-time employees, and also apply to the Police Authority that the entire city of Kalmar becomes a so-called section 3 area, ie that security guards get permission to patrol there.
The focus will then be on central Kalmar, by Långviken and the activity park in Norrliden.

Improved lighting
In addition to security guards, Kalmar municipality will create its own unit for security and safety at the municipal management office, which will work strategically with crime prevention measures.
Camera surveillance in the urban area will be intensified by the municipality pushing the issue more clearly towards property owners, and investments will be made in improved lighting and adult walks in the city.
