On October 18, presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Bolivia.

Five candidates are running for the presidency.

It is expected that the main struggle will unfold between Luis Arce, ex-minister of economy and supporter of Morales, and ex-president Carlos Mesa, who ruled the country from October 2003 to June 2005.

Bolivian citizens also elected 130 MPs and 36 Senators to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly.
