The Defense Council chaired Sunday evening by Emmanuel promised quick answers.

Police operations have been carried out since Monday morning against "dozens of individuals" of the Islamist movement, announced on October 19, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.

Others are also planned in the coming days.

These operations, decided following the Defense Council held the day before, do not target individuals "necessarily linked to the investigation" into the assassination of Samuel Paty but aim to "convey a message: (...) not a minute's respite for the enemies of the Republic, "said the minister on Europe 1, without giving further details.

Since the assassination of college professor Samuel Paty on Friday, more than 80 investigations have been opened for online hatred and arrests have taken place, added on Europe 1 Gerald Darmanin.

The minister said he wanted to dissolve several associations including the Collective against Islamophobia in France (CCIF).

"A certain number of elements allow us to think that it is an enemy of the Republic", he added.

It "affects state aid, tax deductions and denounces state Islamophobia".

"51 associative structures will see a certain number of State services visits all week long and several of them, at my suggestion, will be dissolved in the Council of Ministers," continued Gérald Darmanin.

"Fatwa launched against Samuel Paty"

He also cited the NGO Baraka City, founded by Muslims with a Salafist profile, whose president, Driss Yemmou, was placed under judicial supervision on Thursday as part of an investigation for harassment on social networks.

The association, whose Facebook account is followed by more than 715,000 people, arouses strong enthusiasm among many young believers but also suspicion for its sometimes radical positions.

The minister also considered that the father of a college student from Conflans-Saint-Honorine and the radical Islamist activist Abdelhakim Sefrioui "clearly launched a fatwa" against Professor Samuel Paty for showing caricatures of Muhammad in class.

The two men are among the eleven people held in police custody in the investigation into the attack perpetrated Friday by an 18-year-old Chechen Russian.
