The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron received the representatives of the French Council of Muslim Worship (CFCM) in the company of the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, Monday, at the Elysee Palace.

A meeting organized to find political answers after the assassination of Samuel Paty.

A "friendly and serious" moment, this is how the vice president of the French Council for Muslim Worship (CFCM) described the meeting held in the office of the President of the Republic in the presence of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

The president said on Sunday that he wanted to find political answers "in the short and medium term" after the assassination of Samuel Paty. 

Prevent radicalizations and train imams

During this meeting, Emmanuel Macron asked this representative authority to work on the prevention of radicalization as well as the training of imams.

The members of the CFCM have given their agreement on this point.

"We have to show that Islam is compatible with the Republic and at the same time, fight radical ideas", one of them was able to declare in particular during the exchanges.

Sunday, at the end of a Defense Council, the Head of State asked that "we quickly take action and leave no respite to those who organize themselves to oppose the republican order ".

Confusion in the face of the attack

The meeting finally ended in great emotion when Chems-Eddine Hafiz, the rector of the great mosque of Paris spoke of his dismay after the attack.

"We cut off a man's head, a father's head, because of my religion. I can't accept it. I haven't slept for four days because of this case. And if you will imagine that what I'm doing is cinema, not at all, "he explained.

"I am fighting, I am risking my life today because it is important to show that Muslims are Republicans, have values ​​that they share with the whole of society. Let us stop stigmatizing by saying that the representatives of the Muslims are, at the limit, a little happy. I am very touched and completely stunned ", continued the rector of the great mosque of Paris who will be present in the homage to Samuel Paty, Wednesday, in the courtyard of the Sorbonne.
