The situation with coronavirus in Russia

Recall that over the past day, 15,982 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia, the total number of registered cases of COVID-19 in the country reached 1,415,316.

Natalya Pshenichnaya, deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, expressed the opinion that Russia may be approaching a peak in the number of new cases of the disease detected per day.

She explained that even strict adherence to the introduced quarantine measures does not give immediate results; to understand the situation, it is necessary to wait at least one incubation period - 14 days.

Pshenichnaya also expressed hope that at the peak the daily growth will not exceed 20 thousand people.

“This prognosis may be negatively affected by non-compliance with the recommended preventive measures (mask regimen, social distancing, hand hygiene), as well as hypothermia associated with sudden temperature changes at this time of the year, which can temporarily reduce the body's defenses against respiratory infections. including COVID-19, ”she explained.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova noted that the epidemiological situation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic remains tense, and urged Russians to minimize contacts and, if possible, stay at home.

“Of course, the main thing is to observe all the necessary rules: transport - only in a mask, all places of communication, crowds - only in a mask, it certainly protects against infection, from disease, from its further development.

Of course, you need to take care of older people and those with chronic diseases, to minimize all possible contacts, it is better to spend this time at home, this is a period of epidemic growth, ”the head of the department said.

In turn, Vladimir Chulanov, the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health for infectious diseases, said that the stabilization of the situation with the coronavirus in the country can be expected in about two weeks.

He recalled that not much time had passed since the beginning of the school holidays and since the departure of some of the employees of organizations to remote work, and noted that the effect of the measures introduced "is developing with a certain lag."

In the meantime, the authorities of the Moscow region announced tougher quarantine measures due to the situation with COVID-19.

Mass sports events and exhibitions will be banned in the region from October 21, as well as all museums will be closed.

From October 17, it is also prohibited to visit entertainment venues there from 00:00 to 08:00.
