The number of infections stood at 29,837 on Sunday, the day after a new record (32,427) since the launch of large-scale tests.

The positivity rate (proportion of positive tests in relation to the total tests carried out) continues to increase rapidly, at 13.2%, against 9% only 11 days ago and around 4.5% at the beginning of September.

The number of deaths attributable to the disease stands at 85 (compared to 90 on Saturday) for the day Sunday, bringing the total death toll since the start of the epidemic to 33,477.

The number of patients with the most severe form of the disease and currently hospitalized in an intensive care unit is 1,939, 71 more than the day before.

During the last 24 hours, 147 new patients have been admitted to these services (against 175 on Saturday), and over the last seven days, 1,343 patients have entered them.

Health Minister Olivier Véran said Thursday that France had a total of 5,800 intensive care beds.
