Italy recorded 11,705 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday and 69 deaths in 24 hours against 10,925 infections and 47 deaths on Saturday.

However, these figures are still much lower than the daily reports during the peak of the epidemic in March and April.

To avoid a reconfinement of the country, the government does not want to waste time.

A new decree comes into force on Monday.

The regions of Milan, Naples and Rome are particularly affected by the rebound in contamination.

And health indicators are deteriorating everywhere.

Hence a new decree presented by Giuseppe Conte who wore a surgical mask: “

We cannot waste time.

We must act by implementing all the necessary measures to avert a new general containment which would end up severely compromising the entire economic fabric of the country.

"

Among the main measures, the decree provides more leeway for the mayors of all cities, who will be able to introduce partial curfews.

Restaurants will have to close at midnight and accommodate only six people per table.

The bars, without catering, will have to close from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

In order to relieve congestion on public transport, admissions will be staggered in secondary schools which will also have to set up a part-time system for pupils.

Finally, in the public sector and private companies, teleworking is strongly recommended.

Since the start of the pandemic, the total number of people infected in Italy has been 414,241 and the number of deaths is 36,543.
