“This is a Russian citizen of Chechen origin who has received refugee status,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Sergei Parinov, head of the press service of the Russian Embassy in France, told TASS that the suspect entered France with his family in 2008 at the age of six.

"Here the family asked for political asylum, they lived on the basis of a long-term residence permit, Anzorov himself received his own residence permit upon reaching the age of majority this year," he said.

The diplomat stressed that after obtaining the status of a political refugee, Russian citizenship is lost.

“This crime has nothing to do with Russia, since this man lived in France for 12 years, his family was accepted by the French side,” Parinov added.

Earlier, the media reported that in the suburbs of Paris, an unknown person beheaded the teacher, the attacker was shot dead by the police.

French President Emmanuel Macron called the murder a terrorist attack.

As AFP reported, French police detained four people in a murder case.
