The British Foreign Office supported the efforts of Russia and the United States to extend the START Treaty

“The new START Treaty has made an important contribution to international security by reducing strategic nuclear stockpiles and increasing transparency and mutual trust between Russia and the United States.

We support efforts to extend the START Treaty, ”RIA Novosti quoted the ministry as saying.

The British Foreign Office stressed that any new treaty will have to take into account the development of technology and weapons.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed extending the current treaty on the reduction of strategic offensive arms for at least a year without any conditions.
