October 17, 2020 "At this moment we must rebuild the country. We are in a war economy and this is our ambition, our trust, our tenacity".

This is the message that the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi, speaking from the stage of the conference of the Youth of the Confederation ('Futuri2020'), wanted to launch.

With an important corollary: "To do this we must win and recreate one thing: trust. Trust in four things. The Covid theme, first of all, where we see that unfortunately we are afraid of our neighbor and his behavior. There is no trust between Government and businesses, between businesses and trade unions ".

According to Bonomi, the other fronts on which to rebuild trust are Europe, globalization and institutions and the Public Administration.

The president of the Italian industrialists, returning to the Covid pandemic, said that "none of us were prepared" for this event.

But then he underlined that "from the emergency it was necessary to think about the future. And today, unfortunately, we are still in an emergency. We all knew of a possible second wave. But what has been done in the meantime? 6 billion have been allocated to healthcare spending, but two thirds of those resources were not used: projects from only 5 regions were presented to Minister Speranza ".

Recovery fund: "We need it, but we also need reforms"

"We need the money from the Recovery Fund, but we also need reforms; you can't hear mayors asking for exceptions because it means that the existing law doesn't work. a historical responsibility because it will be our children who will pay these debts ", added Bonomi.

"The more than 200 billion is not given to us because we are good, but because we are worse than others on some parameters. Italy's per capita income is back to that of 26 years ago. We are a country in crisis and if we have a Public Administration in which we have no confidence is a big problem - he continued - We are used to looking to the future, Next Generation EU works today. We are building an important European dimension, but we must also cultivate it ", concluded Bonomi.

"We were right about the Rdc and quota 100"

"Everyone says that Confindustria is not right, then, but ... it is right" - says Bonomi - "When we say that Quota 100 and Citizenship Income do not work, it was a mistake to abandon Industry 4.0, first they criticize us then after months we come back to think that we are right ", he adds.

"We hear those who administer public affairs complain about the problems, we have been denouncing it for two or three generations and nothing has changed in Italy", he adds.

Rdc does not work, the solution is not hiring navigators

Then - addressed to the Minister of Labor, Nunzia Catalfo - he underlines: "I heard the minister say that they must hire 11,600 navigators and I got a shiver. Because I don't think the solution comes from hiring other 11,600 navigators. Active employment policies are not done with citizenship income, nor with the hiring of navigators ".

Redundancy block and hiring block

"I understand that on the redundancy block, which in my opinion is the hiring block, today the government is in difficulty, but we need to get out of certain logics", so "let's confront" continues the president of Confindustria.

Bonomi still invites the Government: "Let's get out of these political logics because even the Sure is not as announced an intervention on layoffs but on active policies and the money allocated by the EU instead went to finance the Cig for the blocking of layoffs".

A block, he reiterates, "that was right when there was an emergency but now we have to look to the future, this is our fault, let's look to the future", he concludes.

Gathering companies said, but no one apologizes

"I remember the controversy of recent months: companies will be the places where major infections will occur. Now the Istat data say that workplaces are perfectly in line with the data of the infections . Indeed, they have become the safest places. From those who accused us of being infectors, however, I have not heard any excuses. But is it so difficult to do it in Italy? "

Bonomi said again.

"88 billion to companies? And who has seen them"

"I heard: you companies have taken 88 billion. I said 'Madonna 88 billion? But I didn't see them" he continues. "Maybe I got distracted by being the president of Confindustria and I went to see the count, "he says.

And he adds, listing: "In the 88 billion there are guarantees, but those are loans and the loans are repaid by companies. They are not like the PA that does not pay its debts".

"They become a cost for the state only if the business fails. Then we were told that there is the Cig: but rightly and God forbid, the cig is a support to workers: and you didn't give that money to businesses, indeed, we had to anticipate that money ", continues Tridico as well.

"Then the president of INPS says we are smart. We are a bit sensitive when you call us crafty when then the crafty is you who do not know how to manage your institutions".
