And it will continue, the summary appeal filed before the administrative court of Lille on Monday by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) and the Hauts de France Tennis League was rejected.

The two tennis authorities were trying to obtain the suspension of this prefectural decree, it failed.

"The administrative judges considered the decision appropriate because the indoor courts are closed spaces where the risk of spreading the virus is high," notes Antoine Sueur, president of the Lille tennis club Lille Métropole, with 750 members.

The administrative court also considers that the practice of tennis remains possible in an open environment and authorized inside for certain categories of licensees (young people, disabled, high level, professionals, university training, extracurricular framework, school groups).

“This decision is catastrophic for our members, our employees and our associations already severely damaged in the spring.

It is also quite unique in France since even in the Paris region, in Rouen, Rennes, Toulouse or Bordeaux, tennis clubs remain open to practice for adults, ”denounces Antoine Sueur.

The latter also specifies that "to [his] knowledge, no cluster has been identified in a tennis club".

Especially since the administrative court confirmed that the meeting of the licensees was still possible.
