It is noted that the discussion took place in the development of agreements between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

The ministers discussed, among other things, the prospects for promoting political dialogue, trade, economic and practical cooperation in the health sector, including the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection, as well as humanitarian contacts.

“Specific aspects of the cross-year of interregional and twin-city relations, preparation for the implementation of projects within the framework of joint economic activities in the southern Kuril Islands were considered,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the same time, Lavrov noted the particular importance of a dialogue on security issues.

In late September, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga discussed relations between the two countries during a telephone conversation.
