She won the battle.

Gaëla Pujol, a soloist of the Ballet de Nice, fired in 2018 after a pregnancy and who accused the municipal authority of "discrimination", won her case before the administrative court.

The town hall has given up on appealing and announces its reinstatement.

"The elements produced by the applicant are sufficient to presume the existence of discrimination based on her maternity", indicates the Administrative Court of Nice.

It relies in particular on the testimonies of several other dancers who were pressured after becoming pregnant.

A very hard role after pregnancy

"We take note of this decision," said the city of Nice, which manages the Nice Opera under municipal control.

She decided to reinstate the dancer “without delay”.

The dancer had also filed a criminal complaint against the director of the ballet.

In February 2018, when she returned from maternity leave after a second pregnancy, Eric Vu-An asked her to star in "

for a tour starting two weeks later."

"A ballet extremely hard for a woman after a pregnancy", then told the dancer, who will then learn that her fixed-term contract, which expires on August 31, 2018, is not renewed.

In the following months, the city of Nice announced corrective measures for the ballet, in particular administrative and medical-professional support with a sports doctor or an alert form to report any harassment.
