  At present, China has about 1.5 billion mu of saline-alkali land, of which about 300 million mu has the potential to be converted into farmland. Academician Yuan Longping believes that if China can develop 100 million mu of saline-alkali land to grow rice, with a yield of 300 kg per mu, the total output can be increased by 30 billion kg, which will help ensure food security.
