Bruno Le Maire goes on the offensive.
He urges Brussels to implement the WTO ruling which authorizes the European Union to tax up to $ 4 billion on imported American products in order to compensate for the damage suffered by Airbus as a result of subsidies paid by the American state to its competitor Boeing.
The French Minister of the Economy recalled "
that under the
conflict between Boeing and Airbus
, Europe has the possibility of imposing sanctions
" and "
that it must prepare for it
", then hammered "
it must decide
”.
Strong statements in response to the threat from Donald Trump who warns that if Brussels taxes American products, it will retaliate with new taxes.
A few days before the US presidential election, Donald Trump is uncompromising and demonstrates to his voters that it is always America first.
For his part, Bruno Le Maire stresses that for the European Union it is a major political choice, and that there is no question of remaining powerless in the face of American sanctions.
Brussels is not of this opinion.
While awaiting the presidential elections, the American European executive wishes to resume dialogue with Washington in order to negotiate an agreement.
