A new building for Umm Al Quwain University, at 50 million dirhams

The Director of Umm Al Quwain University, Dr. Jalal Hatem, stated that the university is in the process of introducing new specializations that include computer science and sociology, in addition to health administration and medical facilities, with the aim of providing various scientific alternatives for students to keep pace with the rapid developments in the country.

He explained that the construction of the new university building will be completed in March next year, at a cost of 50 million dirhams, and it is built on an area of ​​650,806 square meters and accommodates about 5,000 students.

The university includes 14 buildings, 137 teaching and administrative offices, classrooms, 700 covered car parks, as well as exhibition halls, a theater and a studio.

Hatem added that the university includes four colleges: mass communication, from which the tracks of journalism, new media and public relations are branched, the College of Law with its public and private tracks, and the College of Business Administration, which includes the disciplines of human resource management and accounting in addition to financial and banking sciences, in addition to the College of Sciences, Arts and Humanities Which includes specialization in English language and translation, pointing out that 530 students are currently studying at the university, who have nationalities from 18 countries.

He pointed out that the university provided facilities for students, including 10 scholarships for the first years of high school at the state level, and five scholarships for children of the first line of defense or first-degree relatives, in addition to offering discounts on tuition fees of 35% for holders of the «happiness» card, and discounts from 25 to 35% for employees of some ministries and government agencies in the country, according to bilateral agreements.

He added that cooperation is taking place between the university and charities to support students who are financially insolvent, pointing out that financial aid for students has reached one million dirhams during the past three years.
