A citizen student, in the tenth grade of Asma Bint Al-Numan School in Dubai, created a system to help the blind people of determination locate their whereabouts and return to their homes easily without outside help.

Student Reem Hamad Al Shehhi told Emirates Today that the help system for the blind people depends on a button that connects wirelessly to a smart application on the mobile phone, and the application includes the commands a person needs to determine his destination, or how to use his possessions.

She added that she was able to complete the system of helping people of determination within three hours, after she benefited from the training provided by the Citizen Programmer Program, organized by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, explaining that the system won the approval of the Evaluation Committee and won the third place.

Al-Shehhi stated that she decided to complete the project, in order to support the blind category of people of determination, noting that she aims to complete a number of innovative projects in the future, and she wishes to study engineering to work in the field of artificial intelligence.

Finally, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University honored six winners for the "Citizen Programmer - Summer 2020" program, which included, this year, two new programs to build promising capabilities in the fields of "cloud computing and the Internet of things" and "3D printing", in partnership with The cloud computing platform «Amazon Web Services», and the company «Signify», which specializes in the field of Internet of things in lighting and building automation.
