17 out of 27 countries in the European Union, in addition to the United Kingdom, are in the red classification of the new European map on travel restrictions to combat "Covid-19", which was published yesterday by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

The green classification included, in the map, most of the regions of only three countries in the European Economic Area: (Norway, Finland, and Greece), while the orange color dominated five countries: (Italy, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia).

Classification by color was not applied to five countries: (Germany, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland), due to “insufficient data on the examinations”, for reasons that were not specified.

According to the center's recommendation, restrictive measures can be imposed on travelers coming from orange or red (or gray) areas, but this does not include those from green areas.

And 16 European countries ranked the red, including France, Spain and Poland, in addition to the United Kingdom.

The aim of drawing up the detailed map, which includes the regions within each country, is to identify the destinations that present a threat, but it is not mandatory for the member states of the Union.
