Two Korean sailors kidnapped by gunmen off the coast of Ghana, West Africa, were released today (17th) local time, an official from the sailor's company said.



An official from the company reportedly said in a press call that they were in Nigeria, saying that the sailors were released a while ago.



They were released after 50 days of abduction.



On August 28, around 8 am, a Ghanaian fishing vessel 500t class'AP703', which was fishing in a sea area about 200km south of Togo Lome Port, was attacked by militants.



At the time, the fishing boat had two Korean sailors and 48 local sailors on board.



It is reported that only two of the militants, among them, Korean sailors, transferred to another ship and flee to Nigeria.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formed an emergency response team and has been working closely with authorities such as domestic authorities and Ghana and Nigeria to release the victims.
