- That's fine.

We are now building the last stage.

In February and March, we were able to carry out low-speed tests on a section.

In October, we expect to be able to test at full speed, says Håkan Sundelin, project manager for Smartroad Gotland.

Charging while driving

This is the first wireless electric road in the world for different types of vehicles.

It has been built the 1.6 kilometers between central Visby and the airport.

The road has inductive technology installed under the roadway.

This means that copper coils are dug into the road and the transfer of energy takes place via an electromagnetic field.

The vehicles' batteries must therefore be charged while driving.

- The idea was to run an airport bus this summer, but it did not work.

The bus will not be tested with passengers until next summer.

Now a driver must drive the truck for six months to check that everything works.

Works for different vehicles

Does not a road like this become very expensive?

- You could say this: To build with this technology the triangle Stockholm - Malmö - Gothenburg would cost in the order of 30 billion.

It is smaller than a high-speed platform in Jönköping.

- Our technology is cheaper than other technology and can be used by all vehicle types, in contrast to, for example, raised contact lines.
