Investing in solar panels to become self-sufficient in electricity is becoming increasingly popular.

Until 7 July this year, it was possible to apply for state investment support of 20 percent.

During the first half of this year, the County Administrative Board of Uppsala County received almost 1,000 applications, which is about the same number as last year.

And there were many county residents who submitted an application at the last minute before the support was abolished by the government from 8 July.

Stella Fahlén Godö, administrator at the County Administrative Board in Uppsala County.

- It was a very dramatic increase there at the last minute, says Stella Fahlén Godö who is an administrator at the County Administrative Board in Uppsala County.

The state support is distributed by the Swedish Energy Agency to the various county administrative boards.

Right now, the county administrative board's money is enough for those who have applied until the end of February this year.

Only one-fifth of all applications received in Uppsala County.

- There is more money.

We are now redistributing funds on an ongoing basis, but it does not look like they will be enough for everyone in line, says Susanne Karlsson, who is head of sustainable electricity at the Swedish Energy Agency.

For those who are granted support, the last possible date for completion is 30 June 2021.

In the video above, you will hear Stella Fahlén Godö tell more about the applications.
