The corona pandemic has meant that several million passengers have been affected by canceled flights since March.

According to the law, airlines must repay money for canceled departures within one to two weeks.

However, many have had to wait much longer than that.

SAS has repaid 1.3 million customers, says the airline's press manager Freja Annamatz.

- But we still have 100,000s of cases left and I can unfortunately not give a date for when we are expected to be completely ready, what I can say is that everyone will get their money back, she says.

Waiting for SEK 2,000

David Nilsson from Bro would have gone to Alicante with friends from his principal education that he had not met in 10 years.

The return trip was booked until March 30 with SAS, and the return trip with Norwegian.

He also had a trip to Ängelholm booked with SAS Eurobonus.

When that trip was canceled, he got the points back but not taxes and fees.

Now he is still waiting for almost SEK 3,000 from SAS for the two canceled trips.

- I understand that there is a lack of money and that it takes time, but it is not possible to blame that you do not have time to pay back anymore.

I would like them to admit that they lack money and offered a similar trip in the future, he says.

Norwegian hopes for a solution in October

Norwegian has also had an extensive number of repayment cases as a result of the pandemic.

But there they hope that the situation will be resolved before the end of October, writes Norwegian's communications manager Charlotte Holmergh Jacobsson in a text message to SVT Nyheter.

SAS has hired people to expand its capacity and now handles just over 5,000 cases per day.

- I regret that it looks like this and understand the frustration.

But no one could have imagined that we would end up in such an extreme situation that has been going on for such a long time, says Freja Annamatz.
