The decision that the pride flag and other minority flags will stop being hoisted in Hörby was made by the municipal board on Monday.

- We do not want to hoist flags that do not represent everyone in the municipality, and the pride flag is just such, Cecilia Bladh in Zito (SD) told SVT Nyheter Skåne on Tuesday.

Want to get the flag back

On Wednesday, critics gathered outside the town hall in Hörby to demonstrate against the decision.

- It's a bad signal.

Pride stands for diversity and it is very important, says Marie Bergström, board member of the association Växtkraft, which has initiated the demonstration.

Opposite the town hall is Hörby church, where they had today chosen to hoist the rainbow flag.

- We do not flag it because we want to do it against the municipality, but we flag for the values the pride flag stands for, says the pastor Olof Sandström.

According to the initiator Marie Bergström, the goal of the demonstration is to get the pride flag back in the municipality.

- Otherwise we have to flag ourselves in the village, she says.

In social media

Even in the comment fields on social media, people have expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision.

On Hörby municipality's page on Instagram, there were thousands of posts with the pride flag published on Wednesday afternoon.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has sought the political leadership in Hörby on Wednesday without receiving a response.
