"The virus starts again, it circulates very quickly in Europe and in our country".

"We are in the second wave and many countries are taking action," he added.

"We have not lost control but in France the situation is very worrying," said the French president.

"We are in a worrying situation and this justifies not being helpless or giving in to panic," he added.

The head of the Elysée therefore announced a curfew in the Paris region, all closed from 9pm to 6am for four weeks, starting Sunday at midnight, in the areas of maximum alert.

The television intervention by the French president came at the end of a council of ministers during which the French government restored by decree the state of health emergency (which had been lifted on 10 July) starting from midnight on 17 October in all. the country, due to the worsening of the Covid-19 epidemic.
