A “strongly suspected” indigenous case of dengue has been identified by the National Arbovirus Center, the Occitanie Regional Health Agency (ARS) said on Wednesday.

This person, on vacation in the region, would have become infected during his travels in the Est-du-Bourg district, in Cabrières (Gard) and in the faculties district, on the road to Mende, in Montpellier (Hérault).

"Preventive measures are underway by the mosquito control operator," indicates the ARS.

Targeted insecticide treatments took place in the affected areas.

Report

However, the state of health of the sick person does not inspire "concern".

Residents of places where the person would have been infected are called to report to the services of the ARS, if they have presented, since the beginning of August, a significant and brutal fever (more than 38.5 ° C) associated with headache, muscle, joint or lower back pain, and in the absence of cough, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing or infected wounds.

A free number has been set up at the ARS to report: 0800.301.301.
