  38 years ago, when he walked into the 704 school with a bamboo fence in the doorway, Zhao Yueping was a little depressed by the instruction to "go to the factory and rotate jobs." It seemed that he had nothing to do with the profession he was studying.

However, when he really started to design the system, he found these experiences to be very useful. Only by understanding the manufacturing process and details can he avoid "taken for granted" design errors.

Later, when he led the team, he still regarded "going to the production line" as a required course for young people.

  The confidence to innovate is often in the knowledge of technology from scratch.

Zhao Yueping clearly remembered that the first major project he independently took over was power station microcomputer technology.

More than 30 years ago, computers were still a rarity, and even the computer courses taught by universities were superficial.

In order to complete the project, he went to the Workers’ Cultural Palace to take a single-chip microcomputer course three nights a week. He applied for funds to collect various devices, from one machine to sixteen-bit machine, all built by himself, "Just open my drawer, what do you need? I can use all the microcontrollers."

  Today's automation systems have already undergone several upgrades and entered the era of intelligence.

Relying on the technical skills he has built since his youth, Zhao Yueping has made the ship's drone cabin to the extreme-as long as the generator set is turned on and put in gear, there is no need for crew to watch, and the system will automatically alarm when there is a failure.

  Without drawings and reference materials, "retreat" for two or three months is commonplace

  In Zhao Yueping's view, true innovation is to have the confidence and courage to start from scratch.

The power system and power supply system on the "Liaoning Ship" that have reached the international advanced level came from the persistence of "going on its own path from scratch."

  It was the first time that Zhao Yueping scratched his head when he saw the almost completely removed power supply system on the "Varyag" ship: without drawings and reference materials, how to design the "heart" and "hematopoietic system" of a future aircraft carrier?

  "This is the time when the pressure is greatest, as if facing a powerful but unpredictable opponent, full of energy but not knowing where to exert force." In the cabin, Zhao Yueping went back and forth to explore various power supplies. Equipment, and finally concluded in the inspection report: "We will do everything by ourselves."

  "It must be done." Zhao Yueping said categorically, because once following other people's technical solutions, it means following step by step, which will lead to dependence on technology and equipment, and will be subject to people-who dares to control the heartbeat In the hands of others?

  The scale and complexity of the power supply system of an aircraft carrier is unprecedented in the history of domestic ship construction.

Zhao Yueping led the team to tackle a technical problem, and "retreat" for two to three months is commonplace for the entire team.

  During the maiden voyage of the "Liaoning Ship", Zhao Yueping disregarded the obstacles of his leaders and his family, and asked to follow the ship in person.

The generator room under the deck has no daylight but only lighting. He who works in it often forgets day and night.

Even while lying on the cabin bed, whenever something happened, he jumped up like a spring and called the technician to plunge into the engine room.

  In November 2013, at the results appraisal meeting organized by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the overall power supply system of the "Liaoning Ship" reached the international advanced level.

Today, the fully domestic aircraft carrier "Shandong Ship", with Zhao Yueping as the leader in power supply system design, has also completed multiple sea trials. Its powerful "heart" and "hematopoietic system" have kept it running healthy.

  Self-raised funds to research and develop new technologies and promote the industry to move forward for three to five years

  After conquering the power supply system of "Liaoning Ship" and "Shandong Ship", Zhao Yueping aimed at the super-powered "heart" of future ships-large-capacity steam turbine generator sets.

  In October 2015, Zhao Yueping learned about the need for the transformation of a high-power steam turbine generator set, keenly aware that this is an important opportunity affecting the development of future ship power.

After half a year of special demonstration, he decided to apply for self-raised funds in the institute to start research and development as soon as possible.

"If you apply for national funding, it will take at least one or two years from reporting and demonstration to project approval. Now, less than two years, research and development has been completed." From the original 5 MW design capacity to the 20 MW level, capacity growth Four times, Zhao Yueping's move directly advanced the industry's technology for three to five years.

  In recent years, new concepts such as Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing have continued to emerge. Zhao Yueping realized that these concepts may bring about a new industrial revolution. He devoted all his energy to the innovation project of "Intelligent Auxiliary System". In half a year, an "intelligent demonstration and verification system" was built from scratch.

  Perhaps because of being at the forefront of technological development, Zhao Yueping said: "I'm just doing what I should do. The so-called natural fit, I should lay the channels ahead of time for more waves coming in."
