The fees will be charged in the car parks closest to the slopes in Sälen and Vemdalen.

At the facility in Åre, the parking fee was introduced four years ago.

- This is a step in creating order and order.

Not least so that rescue services and other blue light vehicles can arrive.

It has happened that they have had to take detours due to people parking in the wrong way, says Jonas Bauer, destination manager at Skistar's facility in Sälen.

Hope to reduce "ignorance driving"

The fee is SEK 20 per hour or SEK 95 for an entire ski day.

For those who do not want to pay, the car parks that are further from the slopes will continue to be free of charge.

- 50 percent of the parking spaces will remain free and we also have so-called "drop off zones" where you can drop off passengers closer to the hill and then go to park.

We have also had some ignorant driving where you choose to take the car even though you might have gone and we hope it will also decrease - which benefits the environment, says Jonas Bauer.

Have you at Skistar received any reactions to this from residents or tourists in the area?

- Yes, but when I explain, most people think it sounds sensible and many recognize that it has been a difficult parking situation.

Some people feel "Should we really have to pay more?", But then there is the possibility of using the free parking.
