▲ Citizens protesting in Berlin

Regarding the issue of the'Girl of Peace' issue, which the Berlin authorities ordered to be demolished, it has put forward a position to discuss solutions through dialogue.

"We have time to discuss a harmonious solution," said Stefan von Dassell, mayor of Mitte District, Berlin.

The mayor of Dassein said in front of the Mite-gu office, appearing without notice at a civic rally demanding the withdrawal of the demolition order.

“I learned the history related to the girl statue for a few days,” said the mayor of Dassen Ward. “The participation of the citizens was impressive.”

He said he received letters from many Japanese citizens residing in Berlin against the statue, and said the Japanese government was not pressured to order the removal of the statue.

He explained that he was under tremendous pressure from the German federal government and the Berlin state government.

The mayor's remark is that although the demolition order is not voluntarily withdrawn, the demolition order has been put on hold for the time being due to an application for provisional injunction.

It seems that local civic groups and citizens strongly opposed it and changed their position.
