Line 14 of the Paris metro is getting a facelift on Monday, welcoming new blue trainsets, the color of Ile-de-France Mobilité, the regulatory authority for transport in Ile-de-France and which finances this new equipment.

Beyond the color, this new metro, built by Alstom, stands out above all for its length.

120 meters long

It is even the largest in France with its 120 meters long for a passenger carrying capacity of more than 1,000 people, specifies the RATP in a press release.

It is made up of eight cars instead of six currently, says RATP in a press release.

The entry into service of these new trains is the first step in the deeper changes to come on this line 14. Namely its extension north of Saint-Lazare to the Mairie de Saint-Ouen station over six kilometers and four additional stations, in the goal in particular to relieve the very busy line 13. And to the south, to Orly airport.

New stations served in the north from December 17

On the northern section, if the site was delayed by a few glitches and then by the Covid-19 health crisis, despite everything, sees the end.

This extension should thus come into service on December 17, announced this Sunday Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France region, on BFMTV.

Initially, line 14 will serve three of the four new stations (Pont-Cardinet, Clichy-Saint-Ouen and Mairie de Saint-Ouen), specifies

Until Orly and Saint-Denis Pleyel in 2024

The extension to the South, to Orly, is planned for 2024. On this date, line 14 will also be further extended to the north, since it is scheduled to go to the new Saint-Denis Pleyel station .

This new train model, inaugurated this Monday on line 14, will also be deployed in the future on lines 4 and 11 of the Paris metro, in different versions.
