Today, Russia and Turkey intensified their consultations in an attempt to stabilize the truce between the conflict parties in the Nagorno Karabakh region and enter into serious negotiations that determine his fate, while Azerbaijan and Armenia continued to exchange accusations of violating the ceasefire.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, stressed the need for strict implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the disputed region.

She added that the two ministers discussed, in a telephone call, the current situation in the region, and the implementation of the obligations of the joint statement for a ceasefire.

The truce was reached in Moscow after several calls from the international community, especially the Minsk Group, which is headed by Russia, France and the United States and plays the mediating role in this conflict.

On the other hand, the European Union called on all parties, including external parties, to refrain from any actions that might lead to more victims in the region.

The European Union called on the two sides to enter into substantive negotiations without delay under the auspices of the "Minsk Group" of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, without preconditions and on the basis of the agreed principles.

European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell also announced that the European Union expresses its "grave concern" over the ceasefire violations, adding, in a statement, "we have seen with great concern reports about the continuation of military activities, especially against civilian targets, and civilian casualties."

Withdrawal agreed

In the context, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, in an interview with the Russian RPK network, that his country did not insist, in the consultations that took place in Moscow, on specific dates for the withdrawal of Armenian forces from Azerbaijani regions, but he stressed that the statement, What was agreed upon, surely assumes an agreed withdrawal of what he called the Armenian occupation forces from the Azerbaijani lands.

Aliyev added that the statement includes a reference to substantive negotiations, stressing that a return to these negotiations should lead to an end to what he called the occupation.

On the other hand, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian stressed that there is no alternative to negotiations to settle the dispute over Karabakh.

In a speech he delivered during the hypothetical Armenian Thought Summit, he stressed that "there is no other solution to the conflict except to return to the negotiating table and negotiate in the name of the future of Karabakh and the entire region."

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution of Azerbaijan announced that the number of victims since the beginning of the fighting in Karabakh has reached 41 dead and 250 wounded, and more than 1,300 buildings have been damaged throughout the country.

Azerbaijan accused Armenia of targeting civilians in cities far from the fighting fronts, and said that the attack on the tourist heritage city of "Ganja" was the most violent, as dozens of people were killed and wounded.

Attacks on two fronts

In the context, Al-Jazeera correspondent in Ankara, Zahir Al-Baik, quoted a source in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry as saying that the Armenian forces launched attacks on two fronts, namely "Hadrut" and "Tug", "Aragol" and "Banzor", with the aim of occupying the city of Gabriel.

He confirmed the retreat and withdrawal of the Armenian forces after suffering heavy losses of lives and equipment, noting that the Armenian forces were ambushed by the Azerbaijani army, which resulted in the killing of 38 Armenian soldiers and the destruction of a large number of its vehicles, according to him.

The source pointed out to Al-Jazeera Net that the Azerbaijani armed forces launched a military operation using drones, missiles and artillery, which resulted in the bombing of more than 400 Armenian targets, stressing that the Azerbaijani forces are in a position of strength on all fronts.

For their part, the Armenian authorities said that 429 soldiers of the Self-Defense Forces have been killed since the beginning of the fighting.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense accused the Azerbaijani army of violating the ceasefire armistice by bombing last night the cities of "Stepanakert", "Shushi", "Martoni" and "Hadrut", in the Karabakh region.

The head of the so-called Karabakh Republic - not internationally recognized - Araik Haratiyonian said that the situation in the region was calm this morning, with the exception of some clashes with light weapons between the two sides.

The Ministry of Defense of the "Karabakh Republic" broadcasted pictures that it said showed its forces repelling an Azerbaijani attack on the northeastern axis of the region, and added that their forces destroyed two military vehicles of the attacking forces, and killed a number of soldiers.
