According to the department, an investigation has been completed in relation to four natives of Dagestan: Murad Shuaybov, Magomed Khazamov, Magomed Abigasanov and Shamil Isaev.

“According to the investigation, a long conflict arose between the former deputy of the people's assembly, Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Shamil Isaev and the director of the publishing house Svoboda Slova, founder of the social and political newspaper Chernovik, Gadzhimurad Kamalov, because of the materials he published about the official,” explained in the UK.

The agency notes that Kamalov, who was a "journalist with an active public position," organized negative publications about Isaev's activities, which is why he decided to physically eliminate him and turned to Abigasanov, promising the perpetrators of the murder a reward.

Kamalov was killed on December 15, 2011 near the editorial office of "Chernovik" when he went out into the street.

He died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Investigative Committee.

"The investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base, in connection with which the criminal case with an approved indictment was transferred to the Southern District Military Court for consideration on the merits," the department said.

In March 2018, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, transferred the further investigation of the Kamalov murder to the central office of the Investigative Committee.
