The grand parade was officially held to celebrate the ruling Communist Party - formally the Korean Workers' Party - and its 75th anniversary.

State-controlled television subsequently broadcast the protracted parade in its entirety to the outside world.

And the messages were clear.

Military vehicles with seemingly huge long-distance robots were driven through Pyongyang.

If they are genuine, they are the country's "largest road-borne fuel-powered robots to date," according to US military analyst Ankit Panda, quoted by AFP.

Weapon display purpose

And the demonstration of the alleged robots was, according to observers, the purpose of the parade, which was accompanied by leader Kim Jong-Un's speech that the country's military defense force should continue to be strengthened.

The dictator then congratulated the people when he claimed that no one in the country has been infected with covid-19, and that it is thanks to socialism, writes the news agency Reuters.

The message has been repeated regularly during the pandemic, but in recent months, state media have reported less on that type of statement and more on the importance of working preventively.

Sorry for the inconvenience

Kim also said he deplored the North Koreans' difficulties in life, despite the many efforts he claims have been made to help the population - a population living under extremely severe repression according to human rights organizations.

Dressed in a gray suit and gray tie, Kim gave the speech from a podium on Kim Il-Sung Square, named after North Korea's founder Kim Jong-Un's grandfather.

Before the speech, the extensive military parade was held with thousands of soldiers, perhaps more, from the various types of weapons.

Everything was well choreographed, with stride lengths and arm movements and a look up at the leadership podium.

The steps of the white horses were also presented as perfect.

Unlike in many previous propaganda parades, no international media has this time been allowed to attend the celebration of the Labor Party in Pyongyang.

North Korea has had its borders closed for the past eight months, among other things since the spread of the corona virus took off in neighboring China.
