The Syrian News Agency "SANA" said that the members of the Fire Brigade of the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with the Fire Brigade, Civil Defense and the people of the region put out a number of fires that broke out in the Mashta Al-Helou area in the governorate countryside, while work is still continuing to extinguish some of the scattered foci.

The head of the forests department in the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Hassan Nassif, explained that the fires have been extinguished in each of Beit Awad, Beit Zahra, Sadeqin, Beit Aarkoush, Jabal Al Sayeda, Al Barqiya, Jdeideh Hazour, Al Qashaa, Qaraouni, Wadi Mogawir and Qalat Al Nimrah, pointing out that the firefighters are still dealing with some fires in Al-Mushatta area, including Kafroun Badra, Karkar Spring and Kafr Sanif.

Nassif pointed out that the fire destroyed large areas of agricultural and forestry lands, indicating that the affected areas have not yet been determined, as the priority is now for firefighting operations.

Nassif indicated that the fire damage in the various areas of the governorate was limited to materials and minor damage to a number of houses, explaining that the firefighters are currently dealing with hotbeds of fires in Dahr Serejis, Dahr Al-Marana and Al-Anazah in the Banias area.

The members of the Tartous Fire Brigade, in cooperation with the members of Al-Haraj in the Directorate of Agriculture, members of the Syrian Arab Army and the people of the region, extinguished the fires that broke out yesterday in the Ad-Draikish area in the governorate countryside.

Nassif indicated that the fire that destroyed large areas of land in Jabal Hamad, Hayr Barfa, Beit Zina, Geneina Ruslan, Delba, Zgharin and Afsouniyah has been extinguished today, indicating that the fire has damaged large areas of agricultural and forest lands.

He added that the fires led to minor damages in a number of residential houses, noting the efforts of the people and their solidarity to block the road to the extension of the fire and prevent it from reaching the homes using all the agricultural equipment they have.

The Tartous Fire Brigade, in cooperation with the Haraj elements in the Agriculture Directorate, also extinguished the fire that broke out yesterday in the Harisoun area in the city of Banias.

The commander of the fire brigade, Colonel Samir Shamma, stated that, in cooperation with the people, the fire was completely extinguished, and its damage was limited to materials.

The people of Lattakia confirmed that there are villages that are still under siege and that the fire extinguishing operations are carried out with simple tools, while the Health Directorate in the city announced that it had evacuated patients from Al-Qardaha Hospital and secured them in Jableh Hospital to ensure their safety due to the fire reaching the hospital walls and the spread of intense smoke in them.

The press office of the city said that firefighting teams from the Civil Defense and Latakia fire brigade, in cooperation with a fire brigade of the Russian forces, are working to cool the fire that broke out in the warehouses of the Tobacco Corporation (Al-Rigga) in the city of Qardaha. The fire spread inside one of the institution’s buildings and caused part of it to collapse.

In Homs, the Governorate's Fire Brigade announced that the firefighting teams, in cooperation with the people, had controlled the fires in the villages of Habanamra, Al-Juwikhat, Burj Al-Maksour, Al-Mazinah, and Wadi Al-Jamous in the western countryside of Homs. She added that work is still continuing to control the fire in the forest site west of "near Ali" village.

In Tartous, the fires expanded, the most dangerous of which was in the Mashta al-Helou area, according to the government newspaper Tishreen.

The newspaper quoted the mayor of Mashta Al-Hilu, Joseph Eid, that the fire "is accelerating over the kilometers that are available to it and expanding to surround all the towns and villages coming on their forests and on olive and apple trees." He pointed out that the fires were highly explosive for several reasons, including the temperature and wind speed, which contributed to the ignition of the fires.
