Sonia Ghezali, our correspondent in Kabul and Islamabad, and Shahzaib Wahlah, correspondent for France 24 in Islamabad, received this Saturday the Bayeux Calvados-Normandie prize for war correspondents, radio category, for their report “Afghanistan, after the attack on MSF maternity ”.

On May 12, 2020, 24 people, including mothers and newborns, were killed in the Médecins Sans Frontières maternity hospital, transformed into a battlefield.

This murderous assault, perpetrated in the Hazara neighborhood, was claimed by the Afghan branch of the Islamic State group, which often targets this Shiite minority.

The report takes place two days after the attack, as doctors try to save the little victims and haggard fathers search for their wife and baby.
