Lt. Col. Yahya Hussain Mohammed, head of the difficult tasks department at the General Directorate of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, confirmed that, since the beginning of this year until September 30, the department dealt with 86 miscellaneous accidents, which resulted in the rescue of people stuck in cars, elevators and homes, and people who fell from Heights, and others trapped in narrow places and potholes, and stranded in valleys due to torrents, in addition to rescuing people in fire accidents, in cooperation and coordination with the General Administration of Civil Defense in Dubai.

He pointed out that the difficult task teams are always ready to deal with all emergency accidents, and on a 24-hour basis, as the teams are divided into the shifts system, so that their members are ready at any hour they receive a notification that any person has been exposed to an emergency.

Mohammed pointed out that the difficult task teams in the Dubai Police achieved a speedy response to dealing with accidents, reaching nine minutes, thanks to the deployment of rescue teams in eight land points belonging to the Search and Rescue Department of the General Directorate of Transport and Rescue, throughout the emirate of Dubai, in addition to readiness. And permanent readiness of all team members 24 hours.

He added that, since the beginning of this year, the difficult missions department has carried out 25 training and development courses for human cadres and rescue teams in various fields, which varied between the tasks of “search and recovery”, diving for rescuers, night diving, diving in shipwrecks, deep diving, and dealing with the fire extinguisher. And how to deal with rescue equipment, land rescue, and first aid, and dealing with lighting devices used in rescue operations.

On the readiness to deal with desert accidents, especially with the approaching winter season in which road trips abound, Mohammed said that the difficult task teams in Dubai Police are trained at the highest level to deal with desert accidents and help people, indicating that the most important thing in rescue operations in desert areas is: Knowing the coordinates of a person who is lost or in need of help, via the “GPS” system, and in the event that this person does not have a “GPS” system, it can be helped by describing where he entered the desert and how long he is walking, so that the patrols and the helicopter move to the place immediately to find him.
