Public Prosecutor's Office Law Amendment Proposal to Postpone Resubmission by Government and Ruling Party October 10 4:44

Regarding the amendment to the Public Prosecutor's Office Law, which was abolished in the previous Diet session, the government and the ruling party have not reached a conclusion on the treatment of the special provision that the retirement age can be extended up to 3 years if the Cabinet approves, and later this month. We have decided to forgo resubmission to the extraordinary Diet session, which is scheduled to be convened in Japan.

Regarding the bill to amend the Public Prosecutor's Office Law, along with a bill to gradually raise the retirement age of national civil servants to 65 years old, deliberation was held in the previous ordinary Diet session, but if the opposition party approves, it will be up to 3 years. It was abandoned because it requested the withdrawal of the special provision that the retirement age could be extended.

Regarding this bill, the government and the ruling party wanted to re-examine the contents and submit it to the next Diet session to pass it, but in addition to the fact that the treatment of special provisions has not been concluded, the bill will be deliberated. The Cabinet Committees of both Houses of Representatives have decided not to resubmit to the extraordinary Diet session scheduled to be convened on the 26th of this month, saying that the deliberation time cannot be secured.

The government and the ruling party want to resubmit the bill to the ordinary session of the Diet next year and aim to pass it.
