According to social director Gabriella Sjöström, the problems are due to a software update that went awry and created delays of up to 24 hours for the 1,600 people in the home care service and nursing homes who have security alarms.

Waiting time: 24 hours

She believes that the supplier is working full time to solve the problems.

- I take seriously what happened.

A waiting time of 24 hours is not acceptable when the security alarms are supposed to give the elderly just security. We also have a user who did not get in touch with us at all.

We hope that the problems will be resolved as soon as possible before the weekend.

But for safety's sake, we have called in extra staff to work on the issue.

Mass mailings are criticized

The administration became aware of the problems on Thursday night and went out with a mass mailing at 23.20 and that action has been criticized because it has frightened parts of the public, who also received the alarm via text message.

- We have received comments that we went out to the public, our citizens, with information that the security alarms do not work optimally.

There have also been several reminders during the night about it and it was unfortunate and something we will review now.

But we took the safe before the unsafe, because we wanted to provide information on all our platforms, says Gabriella sjöström
