Erekat: I suffer from severe symptoms of Coronavirus

The chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, said yesterday that he suffers from "difficult" symptoms, after he was infected with the Coronavirus, but that "things are under control."

Erekat, 65, said on Twitter that he is in isolation and is receiving medical treatment at home, a day after confirming his infection with the virus.

He canceled all meetings and appointments.

And there is growing concern about his condition, as he underwent a lung transplant in the United States in 2017.

In tweets on “Twitter” yesterday, Erekat said that he suffers from difficult symptoms “as a result of my lack of immunity as a result of a lung transplant”.

He said that things are "under control".

Erekat is the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, a member of the Fatah movement, and one of the most prominent figures in the Palestinian leadership for decades.

In addition to his work as a veteran negotiator, he is one of the most prominent advisers to President Mahmoud Abbas, and held prominent positions during the era of former President Yasser Arafat.
