The Academic Accreditation Commission at the Ministry of Education develops the conditions for students' enrollment in six university programs in higher education institutions in the country, and has already completed the amendment of three university programs, namely medical and health sciences, law and education, after developing them starting last year, while it finally started developing three Other programs are: Engineering, Business Administration, and Humanities.

Finally, the director of the commission, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Bani Yas, stated in a press statement that the development focused on four basic aspects, the first being enabling students to learn the language of study in the university specialization, whether it is Arabic or English, considering that it is illogical to direct students to study law, For example, they are unable to write a paragraph that is comprehensible and error-free.

He stressed that the scores of the Emirates Standardized Test (EMSAT), which is approved by the Ministry of Education in both Arabic and English, or any international test approved for the English language, will be taken to accept associates of law colleges in the country's universities.

Regarding the second aspect of development, he mentioned that it is related to raising the acceptance rate in a number of colleges, including law schools, indicating that the number of students studying for this major is relatively large, and based on the vision and direction of the Ministry and the Academic Accreditation Commission, the admission requirements for the Bachelor’s program have been raised. , To become 75% for the advanced track, and 80% for the general track.

Bani Yas added that the Commission has deliberately developed programs to restructure the curricula, so that they are equally divided between theoretical and practical subjects, so that the share of the training aspect of the specialty of pharmacy becomes 40%, 50% for medicine, 40% for dentistry, and 60% for nursing.

He added that, in the third developmental aspect, the Commission directed universities to have an advisory council for each college in the business sector and employing agencies, indicating that it is not required for a university professor to be sitting in his “high tower” and working on developing curricula, and he does not know what is happening in the market. Work and its requirements, and the skills it requires to keep pace with the continuous technological development.

As for the fourth aspect of developing university programs, it is represented in universities obtaining international accreditation, whereby medical students in all universities are required to undergo an international exam, in addition to the exams they take inside the university.

As for the colleges of pharmacy, all their programs must be internationally accredited, explaining that these standards qualify the future student to have a better future, and also raise the reputation of the institution and the state.

Baniyas said that the second stage of development includes colleges of engineering, including design, information technology, business administration, and human sciences, in all its branches, media, Islamic studies, and the Arabic language, pointing out that some majors need to rely on technology more, including Business Administration, therefore, the Commission is working to introduce digital commerce, accounting and data science in those colleges, with the introduction of mathematics and statistics in colleges of commerce, as well as programs for analyzing data auditing and digital accounting, and moving away in those colleges from public relations programs.

Implementation of developmental aspects

The Director of the Academic Accreditation Commission, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Bani Yas, confirmed that the commission does not impose on universities to implement all developmental aspects, but rather directs them to implement them to keep pace with developments in university education and the labor market.

He pointed out that the Commission, in terms of program development, focused on specializing in education, especially in scientific subjects, so that the mathematics teacher would be a graduate of the College of Science, and then obtain education courses, and thus the teacher would be more scientifically and educationally qualified, as it is not acceptable to challenge His teacher asked for a scientific subject, while the teacher was unable to keep up with him or answer his questions.
