He called for a "transparent and thorough" investigation into the situation with Navalny.

“We, of course, will join the sanctions against these people,” he said.

On October 7, France and Germany announced in a joint statement that they would send their European partners proposals for additional sanctions against Russia due to the situation around Navalny. 

The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the possibility of imposing restrictions due to the situation with Navalny, said that sanctions always lead to retaliatory measures.
