- The idea behind the events is to carry on the message that we must think about how we prepare for possible events such as power outages, lack of water and food, says Jörgen Nilsson, project manager.

Skåne is hit by storms that can cause power outages and heavy snowstorms that risk isolating citizens for a long time.

For the fifth year in a row, the four municipalities of Simrishamn, Ystad, Sjöbo and Tomelilla are investing in raising awareness among children about how to act in a crisis, such as a long-term power outage.

Theater about crises

- We have invested in theater at the school for all fourth graders in our four municipalities.

There, a number of crisis situations are dramatized that the students can reflect on.

We believe that it is a good age partly because they are receptive but also because they have the opportunity to discuss it at home at the kitchen table, says Jörgen Nilsson.

Students also receive the brochure "Vital handbook - think before, act correctly in case of crisis" which they can take home.

The brochure is about how to stay informed in a crisis, important telephone numbers, how to make a plan to cope with different situations and different "good to have lists".
